How a NYC Royal Carriage gift certificate works
A gift certificate is a credit toward any of our rides, not a ticket for one fixed tour. You choose the amount — anything from $25 to $5,000 — and the person you give it to chooses the tour, the date and the departure time later. You do not have to guess whether they would rather have a 25-minute ride on a spring afternoon or a 125-minute evening tour in October.
Payment is taken through Stripe Checkout. Once Stripe confirms it, the certificate is issued and emailed to the recipient address you entered, carrying a unique code and the personal message you wrote.
To redeem it, the recipient contacts us on (646) 656-9717 with the code and we book the ride together. Ask us how any balance is handled when you buy — we would rather answer that once, for your certificate, than publish a rule here that does not match what we do.
If you would rather hand over one specific ride on one specific day, you do not need a certificate at all: book that date and time at /book in the recipient’s name and forward the confirmation email.
Choosing an amount
Every price below is for the whole carriage, not per person, and every booking is one private carriage — you are never seated with another party. Add-ons are charged on top of the tour price, so an amount a little above the ride you have in mind leaves room for them.

What the ride itself is
Each carriage seats up to 4 adults. With children (12 and under) the combinations are:
- 4 adults per carriage
- 3 adults & up to 2 children per carriage
- 2 adults & up to 4 children per carriage
- 1 adult & up to 6 children per carriage
Tours leave from 7th Avenue and Central Park South (59th Street) — 180 Central Park South, New York, NY 10019. The 25-minute Mini Tour runs non-stop; photo stops are part of the longer routes. Regular tours run January 10 through November 20; from November 21 to January 9 the regular line-up pauses and our Christmas tours run in its place, so a certificate given in December is redeemed either on a Christmas tour or on a regular tour once they resume. A booking has to be made at least 30 minutes before departure.

Cancelling or moving a booking paid with a certificate
A ride booked with a gift certificate follows the same terms as any other booking:
- Cancellations made 24+ hours before the tour: full refund (excluding transaction fees)
- Cancellations made 12–24 hours before the tour: 50% refund
- Cancellations made less than 12 hours before the tour, and no-shows: no refund
- Rescheduling: up to 12 hours before the scheduled time — call (646) 656-9717
- Weather-related cancellations by NYC Royal Carriage: full refund or free rescheduling
- Late arrival: more than 15 minutes late without contacting us forfeits the refund and rescheduling options
Gift certificate questions
How much should a gift certificate be?
Enough to cover the ride you have in mind. Tours run from $104.99 for the 25-minute Mini Tour to $414.99 for the 125-minute Grand tours, and the price is for the whole carriage rather than per person. Certificates can be issued for any amount between $25 and $5,000, so you can also cover part of a ride and let the recipient top it up.
How does the recipient redeem the certificate?
They contact us on (646) 656-9717 with the code when they are ready to book, and we arrange the ride with them. The code is on the email they receive.
What happens if their booking costs more than the certificate?
A certificate can be put toward any ride we sell, including a longer tour, extra carriages or add-ons. Ask us when you buy how the difference is settled for your certificate, so you have it in writing.
Is the rest lost if they book something cheaper?
No. The remaining balance stays on the code and can be used on a later booking, so a $300 certificate spent on a $164.99 Signature Tour still has credit left for another ride.

Can I give one specific tour on one specific date instead?
Yes, and for that you do not need a certificate at all. Book that date and departure time at /book in the recipient’s name and forward the confirmation email. The certificate exists for the other case, where you want the choice to be theirs.
