Reservations are required as we do not take walk-up bookings — this ensures your preferred date, time, and carriage are ready when you arrive. When booking online, you can choose your tour type (Mini, Signature, Silver, Royal, or Rockefeller Royal Lights Ride), select your preferred date and time slot, and add optional extras like champagne, roses, or a photo package. You will receive an instant email confirmation with your booking details, pick-up location, and driver information. We recommend booking at least 24–48 hours in advance, especially during peak seasons like Christmas, Valentine's Day, and summer weekends, as time slots fill up quickly.

We operate Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 11:30 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 11:30 PM. Our extended weekend hours allow guests to enjoy early morning rides through Central Park before the crowds arrive, or romantic evening tours under the city lights. During the holiday season (November through January), we often extend our hours to accommodate the high demand for festive carriage rides past Tavern on the Green and the beautifully decorated Central Park landscape. Please note that hours may be adjusted based on weather conditions — we prioritize the safety of our horses and guests at all times. If a ride is cancelled due to weather, we offer free rescheduling to any available date.

Our pick-up location is at 7th Avenue and Central Park South (59th Street), New York, NY 10019, at 180 Central Park South on the park side of the street. The location is easily accessible by subway (N, Q, R, W trains to 57th Street–7th Avenue station), by taxi, or by rideshare. When you arrive, look for our branded NYC Royal Carriage horses and drivers wearing our company uniforms. We recommend arriving 10–15 minutes before your scheduled ride time so you can meet your driver, ask any questions, and get settled comfortably before your tour begins. Our drivers will confirm your route and point out highlights along the way through Central Park.

Your safety and comfort are our top priority, so we do not operate during severe weather conditions. Rides are suspended below 19°F or above an 87°F heat index — our own limits, which are stricter than the city requires. Light rain or snow does not automatically cancel your ride — our carriages have weather covers that keep you dry and cozy. However, during heavy rain, thunderstorms, ice storms, or blizzard conditions, we will proactively contact you to reschedule at no additional cost. Our stress-free rescheduling policy means you can move your booking to any available future date without penalty. Carriage rides start at $104.99 for a 25-minute Mini Tour, $164.99 for a 45-minute Signature Tour, $194.99 for a 55-minute Silver Tour, $224.99 for a 65-minute Royal Tour, and $224.99 for a 65-minute Rockefeller Royal Lights Ride. All prices are per carriage (up to 4 adults), not per person, and include no hidden fees — the price you see is the price you pay. The Signature Tour includes one photo stop on Terrace Drive by Bethesda Terrace; Silver adds Cherry Hill, and Royal adds Strawberry Fields. Mini has no scheduled photo stop. All tours include the carriage, driver, and blankets during cold weather. Tips for your driver are appreciated but not required. Each of our traditional Victorian-style carriages seats up to 4 adults. With children (12 and under) the seating can be: 4 adults, 3 adults & up to 2 children, 2 adults & up to 4 children, 1 adult & up to 6 children. The carriages feature cushioned bench seating facing forward with cozy blankets provided during cooler months. For larger groups — such as bridal parties, corporate outings, or family reunions — we can arrange multiple carriages to ride together through Central Park in a carriage procession. This is a popular option for proposals, birthday celebrations, and holiday group tours. Please let us know your group size when booking so we can coordinate the appropriate number of carriages and ensure everyone departs at the same time. Yes — all 15 of our horses receive daily grooming, veterinary exams three times per year, farrier visits for hoof care, and 6 to 12 weeks of annual vacation on green pastures in the countryside. Our horses are born and raised in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, trained using gentle positive-reinforcement methods. Stall conditions exceed New York City Department of Health requirements, with nutritious feed and fresh water provided daily. Our operations are licensed and regularly inspected by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, which sets and enforces the welfare rules for every carriage horse in the city. Yes, we specialize in creating unforgettable Central Park proposal experiences! Our proposal packages include a private carriage ride through the most romantic spots in Central Park — Bow Bridge, Bethesda Fountain, Cherry Hill, and the Shakespeare Garden are popular proposal locations. Gift certificates are available from $100 to $5,000 and are emailed after payment is confirmed. They are credit toward a ride, not a fixed tour ticket. The Mini Tour costs $104.99 per carriage, so a $100 gift leaves $4.99 to pay. Choose $104.99 or more to cover that tour before optional add-ons. The recipient calls (646) 656-9717 with the code to arrange the ride and any balance payment.

Cancellations made 24+ hours before the tour: full refund (excluding transaction fees). Cancellations made 12–24 hours before the tour: 50% refund. Cancellations made less than 12 hours before the tour, and no-shows: no refund. Weather-related cancellations by NYC Royal Carriage: full refund or free rescheduling. We are fully licensed by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, which oversees all horse-drawn carriage operations in the city. Our carriages run seven days a week, including all major holidays, but the tour line-up changes with the season. Regular tours (Mini, Signature, Silver, Royal and the evening rides) run January 10 – November 20. From November 21 to January 9 we pause the regular tours and run our Christmas tours instead — festive rides with hot chocolate, warm blankets, and routes past the iconic holiday decorations near Tavern on the Green and Columbus Circle, when Central Park is lit up and the air has that crisp New York City winter feel. Spring and summer are perfect for daytime rides through the blooming gardens and shaded paths, while fall offers stunning foliage views that make for incredible photos. The only times we suspend operations are during extreme weather — below 19°F or above an 87°F heat index, our own limits, stricter than the city requires. During weather closures, we offer free rescheduling to any future date.

The 65-minute Royal Tour ($224.99) is the longest ride that fits comfortably: add the 10 minutes we ask you to arrive early and you still have time either side. If you want more slack, the 55-minute Silver Tour ($194.99) or the 45-minute Signature Tour ($164.99) are the easy choices, and the 25-minute Mini Tour ($104.99) works when a ride is squeezed between other plans — the Mini runs non-stop, while photo stops are part of the longer routes. Our 125-minute Grand tours need more than 90 minutes, so save those for an open afternoon.

Per carriage. Every booking is one private carriage, so the price is the same whether one person rides or 4: $104.99 for the 25-minute Mini Tour, $164.99 for the 45-minute Signature, $194.99 for the 55-minute Silver, $224.99 for the 65-minute Royal. Two guests pay exactly what four would. If you book more than one carriage, the tour price is simply multiplied by the number of carriages.

Two. A carriage seats up to 4 adults, so six of you ride as 4 and 2, and both carriages leave on the same departure and travel together. Yes — every day in December, but in a different form. From November 21 through January 9 the regular tours pause and only our Christmas tours run, so any December date you choose on the booking page is a Christmas ride. Regular tours (Mini, Signature, Silver, Royal and the evening rides) run January 10 through November 20.

Yes. Book the 65-minute Proposal Tour ($224.99) and the booking page asks where the moment should happen — three spots: Bethesda Terrace Arcade, Wagner Cove, Bow Bridge. Choosing one is required rather than optional, because your driver stops there for the proposal itself instead of driving past. Photo and video add-ons can be selected at checkout if you want it captured, and the carriage is private throughout, so nobody rides along unless you booked them.

Online booking closes 30 minutes before departure — that is the hard cutoff, and any slot closer than that stops appearing on the calendar. We recommend 24–48 hours ahead in practice, and further out for peak dates like Christmas, Valentine's Day and summer weekends, because time slots fill. No. Every booking is one private carriage — yours alone, with your own driver. There is no shared ride or per-seat ticket, which is why the price is per carriage rather than per person. If your group needs more than one carriage, they all leave on the same departure and stay together.

Service animals are welcome. Other pets require prior approval, so call (646) 656-9717 before booking and we will tell you whether we can take your dog on the date and tour you have in mind.
